Will US mine the moon?

In a story that seems almost like science fiction, the russians are accusing the US of trying to mine the moon for helium 3 for use in fusion reactors.

While rare on earth, helium 3 is plentiful on the moon. The desire to mine the lunar soil for this rare isotope of helium is prompting another space race. Russians accuse the US of trying to mine the moon for Helium 3 and monopolize this scare resource. This helium gas could be used for fusion reactors. No wonder we had the Boston Mooninite scare.

Bush is terrified of the Mooninites from the Aqua Teen Hunger Force known as Ignignokt and Err which appeared as litebrite fiqures near a subway on sullivan square and sent police into a panic.

Only a police state could be terrified of cartoon characters.
