Put some corn in your tank

E85 has taken off. It is a mix of 85% ethanol (grain alcohol) and 15% gasoline. Most ethanol is made from corn. In the battle between oil fields and corn fields, it seems that corn fields are winning. This battle started in the 70's with gasahol a mix of 10% ethanol and 90% regular gasoline. Now 10% ethanol is standard at the pump. The new kid on the block is E85.

Use of E85 is growing by leaps and bounds. So much alcohol is being made that the price of corn is going up. I predict a bright future for the yellow fields of grain. So when searching for fuel - look to the corn fields of the middle west rather than the oil fields of the the middle east.
