I am sorry?

Do NOT say - I am sorry. Actually, the word sorry comes from sorrowful and means full of sorrow. Clearly, this is not what you are trying to say. Like it makes no sense. Therefore, saying it is a lie in many ways. Perhaps if your significant other died and people said, I am sorry. Still, we doubt that they were ever full of sorrow.
