time travel movies

Why do people like 50's time travel movies. It was a TIME when there were a lot of jobs in america. Also, there was very little crime. Few movies are on time travel to the 1930's great depression, or 1940's world war. Those were not good times for us. In fact, during the 40's food was rationed and so was gas. OK so that could happen again.
