Futuristic aircraft headed to Iraq
After eighteen years of work in labs and over twenty billion in expenses, a new tilt rotor aircraft that can hover like a helicopter and fly like a plane is headed to Iraq.
Marine will deploy the controversial V22 Osprey that can carry troops twices as fast and thrice as far as conventional aircraft. This hybrid of a helicopter and an airplane had two fatal crashes in 2000, but the problems are said to be fixed.
The V22 Osprey is supposed to eventally replace heicopters.
