Electric Fiat microvette

The new Fiat electric car has a range of 70 miles and a top speed of 60mph. This more than adequate for most people and should be in the showroom soon. Hope real soon, since gasoline will go up a lot in 2009.

Gas prices come down

Thankfully, gasoline prices have dropped below $4/gallon and the stock market began the process of recovery. While this is good news, we need alternate sources of energy. I feel that wind, solar, and geothermal have much to offer.

In other news, housing prices are still dropping. Houses have dropped in value more than expected. The drop in may was the biggest ever with 20 city index down 16.8% FOR THE MONTH OF MAY and in miami the price of a home fell 28.3%!

Wind power in Texas

The great state of Texas known for its oil wells is now moving into the science of wind energy. The switch from oil wells to wind turbines is what will soon power american if the Pickens Plan is enacted.

In order to reduce carbon from coal plants, wind power will be used. Electric cars will then use the power to replace gasoline. It sounds like a great idea.

Good news for a change

Where I live the price of gasoline has finally dropped down below $4/gallon nd should hit $3.75 soon. I saw that average gasoline price for the US today was $3.96/gallon. Fiannly we are getting some relief from the high prices.

I predicted that politician would try to keep gasoline prices under $4/gallon this year due to the elections, but come next year expect things to get real bad as a decline in the dollar could boost gas prices above $5/gal in event of trouble.

The Saudis are running out of spare capacity and 200 dollar a barrel crude is just around the corner. Peak oil is not a hoax, this is but a small calm before the storm. Stock up on food & fuel.

Foreclosures rise 120%

Mortage meltdown is still on going with banks in trouble. Foreclosure figures up again as rates have risen 120% and things are getting worse as the engine of the economy slows down. Not only are more houses for sales, but the number of qualified buyers is dropping as banks tighten lending. This perfect storm is going to rip apart the markets.

Last year a realtor told me that he had for sale hundreds of lots, this year thousands of lots, but no real buyers because people are not building new homes. The only buyers are speculators who are betting that property prices will rebound. Well, that may be a long way off.

GM sales drop

The Detroit Giant is in trouble. GM sales fell 5% from last year. It was last year the GM lost 39 billion dollars, its biggest loss ever. Things are going from bad to worse. The automotive industry is bleeding red in as all the big three General Motors, Ford and Chrysler are losing market share to Japan and have trouble selling pickup trucks and SUVs.

The sales of small cars and hybrids have been brisk and Toyota says that Pruis will now be manufactured in the US using an idle truck plant.

Will the Pickens Plan work?

Yes, it seems hard, but we can switch from to wind power. The Pickens Plan will make it possible to create new sources of energy that do not cause pollution. I favor using wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal to produce power.

amex in trouble

American Express is experiencing financial difficulty as the economy gets worse. The company has been hit hard by the increase in defaults and rising inflation will eat into profits. Amex had earlier outsourced much of its workforce but a declining dollar is now damaging the company.

Since bills are payable in dollars and the dollar is dropping in value they are getting less money. Also, the company is seeing more people losing jobs and homes as the economy gets worse.

Guru of low tech

An MIT prof is guru of low tech and wants to save the world with his inventions. This is great as most inventions are by big firms that want to outsource, downsize, and offshore work to low wage counties. These MIT inventions are built to help low wage people around the world.

Banks in trouble

JP Morgan Chase profits dropped 53% AND things are getting worse for the financial sector. Taking over Bear Sterns is a drag on Chase, but the number of loan defaults is up due to a poor economy.

Not sure of when we turn the corner, but right now there is talk of the recession becoming worse and as more banks are in trouble the government might not have enough money to bail them all out. The fed had to rescue Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It seems that we are going deeping down into a depression.

new HDR from inventor Steven Gibbs

Steven Gibbs latest new 2009 model HDR is just out. It is basically an electromagnet that creates a pulsed high energy magnet field.

This device can be used in your car when you power it using a power inverter connected to the 12 volt cigarette lighter near your dashboard. This means you are now free of the electrical outlet and can take the HDR with you where ever you go.

High Diesel - the truck stops here

High price of diesel fuel means many truckers are out of business. Personally, I know of an operator of a concrete truck who was laid off due to a combination of high fuel prices and slow construction. The real estate market is bad and few houses are being built.

I tell you, the recessio is real, people are losing their jobs, homes, and ever marriages due to the poor eonomic conditions. If truckers go under who will take food to the grocery store?

Racist mexican comic book?

Here is an interesting turn. Well, americans accusing their brothers south of the border of having a racist comic book. The comic book character "menim" which is popular in mexico made some inner city folk like Rev Al Sharpton mad. Is mexican comic book character menim racist?

Perhaps we should ask mexicans what they feel, instead of imposing US ideas on other cultures.

Mystery of Time

Part of the mystery of time and the multiverse is entropy. In fact, why do things go from high order to disorder? Is our universe we live in part of a greater bigger system that we are not aware of?

Perhaps there questions will soon get an answer, but I believe that time particles or chronotrons are what drive the arrow of time. This can be what we are searching for. The mystery or time is that we do not understand it.

Depression Ahead?

Mounting job losses for the last six months and our economic crisis will cause unemployement rate to break six percent soon. However, real unemployement is closer to twelve percent. A recent survey showed 11% of respondents were without work.

Part of the problem is rising fuel costs. The cost of heating a home in Boston is now over $4,000.00 per year and things are getting worse as oil prices rise to record highs. This leaves little money for food which is getting more expensive due to rising fuel costs as well as the floods which destroyed 20% of the corn crop. Add to this transportation is affected by oil hitting record highs over $140/b and some say it will go over 200 before th year is out.

I believe we will see a depression or even a megapression.

GM Bankrupt?

Shares of General Motors are at their lowest level in 54 years. There is talk of GM bankruptcy in the next few months. Sales have plunged for Pick up trucks and SUV trucks. Last year GM lost 39 billion dollars.

The reason for the poor sales is high oil prices. Today the price of oil shot above $146/b and it ism making people think twice about buying dib gas guzzlers. I predicted that the SUV would rust on the car lot.
