Oil rises on fear
Fear of Gustav doing damage sent oil going up. The price is rapidly rising as 98% of the production of gulf crude oil is shut down. This is having an impact on the world economy. I predict that stocks will open lower.

Well, our first outer feeder bands of Hurricane Gustav are quickly moving over New Orleans. Hopefully, the Levees will hold. Latest reports say the storm surge is less than expected. The Florida Panhadle and Texas got lucky this time, but the storm will hit Louisiana head on.

Bob Lazar talks about some new projects that are working on cutting edge technology. This deals with electrogravitics an extension of Project Galileo. Most of this technology was developed in the 1980's, but never commercialized. Perhaps, an attempt to make this technology available to the masses will be attempted now.
The initial research Dr. Townsend Brown dealt with high voltage used to neutralize gravity. Most of this research is now very hush. There is some work on lifters that people know about, but using this technology would make air transport much faster and economical.

Irradiated lettuce will be allowed on your grocery store shelf. FDA says Ok to use radiation.
This is bad news. I did warn people that this might happen in the future.
Food is altered by radiation and rendered into a toxic product. Do not eat radiated food as it is not safe. We know so little, remember when they said DDT was safe?

They say Don Quixote was tilting at windmills, but a student inventor has created a wind turbine out of scrap metal. He says he can build this device in less than a day for about twenty pounds. This is great news for poor countries as they can now join in the green revolution.

Shai Agassi has a plan to put electric cars on the road. He wants to create a network of charging stations much like the cellular telephone network we have now, except it will be for charging up the electric cars.
The plan is max ambitious, but so is Shai. He used to be head of product development at SAP, but quit to create a network for electric cars. He believes that wind power could supply the electricity to make this dream a reality. The road ahead is bright indeed.

The disembodied brain in a jar is one of the staples of science fiction. Well, now it is real. An actual robot is able to navigate its course using a mass of rat brain cells connected to electronics.

Scientist say that Star Trek's warp drive is physically possible. It is hard to imagine how you move by folding space but that is what a warp drive does. In fact, you do not really move, but space moves around your ship and you simple stay put while the area around you is folding up.

The mighty ocean seems so vast that nothing could destroy it and yet pollution is causing the appearance of numerous oceanic deserts where there is no life. A dead zone the size of mass near Texas is now twice as big as twenty years ago. However, the people is world wide, in the Baltic sea fish are dying due to lack of oxygen. People see that the sea is dying.
Pollution is the problem. The amount of nitrogen runoff did increase and now we face algae blooms that cause mats of green scum to sink to the bottom, rot and consume our oxygen. In the pacific ocean there is so much trash that the pacific gyre is called an oceanfill. That is a landfill, not on land but in the ocean itself.

An experiment in swiss proved that faster than light transfer of information is possible. This means that very nature of our reality may be different than we think. Quantum weirdness spooks physicists that study particles. The very laws of the universe seems to break down when we study the very small or the very large.

The drop in oil prices did cause the stock market to rally, but there is a black cloud on the horizon. The war in georgia could threaten vital oil supplies from the caspian sea, and it could spread to other areas. Expect gold prices to rise as people panic.
Much like in the 1930's a financial collapse of banks could trigger a world wide depression that would destroy the DOW and close most buisinesses. Get ready to DOWsize your market portfolio.

A sad day today as the angry russian bear attacks the small country of georgia. Today we hear that russia refused a ceasefire plea by the UN and georgia. As we speak the war is ongoing and thousands of civilians are dead. I fear these wars will widen and become global in nature.

Learn to drive a stick shift car. You improve fuel efficiency by about 4 mpg as well as save money because:
1) Manual transmission cars cost less to buy.
2) Stick shift breaks less and costs less to repair.
3) Your breaks wear out less quickly.
4) Less heavy so less damage to roads.
5) Easy to sell in today's energy dependent world.

There are many models of cars that are not sold in america like the 50 mpg ford fiesta that is small but sporty. These euro cars that are mpg friendly cannot be sold in america for many different reasons. It is wise to see what other countries have. Europe has been on a small car mindset for time now, and they understand how to make small cars.

Today the People's Islamic Republic of Iran gave threat to close the Persian Gulf to oil tankers. This could send the price of petroleum products soaring as most of the Saudi oil goes through the Straights of Hormus. This is a most unfortunate development as it will cause much hardship.
Here is hoping that cooler heads will prevail and this issue can be resolved in a diplomatic fashion. Perhaps we should begin to stockpile supplies now.

The whole internet is abuzz with speculation about what the Martian Phoenix probe found. Some say that the cyberspace buzz about Mars life is all hype and no hope. Still, I feel that finding life on Mars would be an "earth" changing event. Think about it, even if all they find is a bacteria it would be the first alien life form.

Electric cars and solar electricity can help us become free. Right now we depend on unstable regimes in the middle east for our oil. Countries like iran that hate the US are getting our money, but with electric cars and solar we can change the future.

The retail giant Walmart worries that Obama will win in Nov and help sign a pro union bill to help workers. The problem is that Walmart is now trying to make few workers do the job and forces people to slave for hours.
I predict that as the recession gets worse we will see more strikes and disruption much like we saw in the Great Depression of the 1930s and this will cause trouble. Prepare for the hard times of the future.
