GM shutters 3 more plants

General Motors today shuttered three more pickup plants and idled 12,000 workers. The automotive giant is suffering due to a strike by workers from American Axle.

All this time they did not keep parts in storage to prevent this disastrous fall out? What do people at the top do all day besides play golf and goof around.

In what has become a cliché GM is a dinosaur about to become EXTINCT!

Bankrupt Banks

With the decline of the dollar and a slowdown in the economy on top of the worst housing market in years many banks are upside down. They owe more than they are worth. The collapse of our economy means that many banks will fail. Bank safety is an issue to see. We could face a 1930's style depression where thousands of banks failed.

Hi Gas Goes Higher

Yesterday I paid $3.29/gallon for gasoline and it will only go higher as oil shot to a record $102/barrel. How can gasoline be so expensive when we are in a recession? Well, maybe because we need to buy fuel to get to work. I predict that you will pay over $4/gal for gas in 2009. Both food and fuel are rising and the dollar is falling, it hit a new low against the euro. In fact, gold is at a record high today.

The time they be a chainging, and not for the better. Gold keeps going up and the dollar and dow keep going DOWn. Gold up a third in 2007 and it is up 12 percent so far in 2008. Since 2000 the price hasd nearly quadrupled. You can't go wrong with the yellow metal, so go for the gold!

Nazi Gold?

Treasure hunters are looking for two tons of Nazi gold believed to be inside a cave. The work did stop for fear the cave could collapse. Will they find the Nazi Gold? I think there is no gold and this is a big stunt, but then again it would be grand if they did hit pay dirt and find the bonanza of a lifetime.

Home Sales Down

For the sixth month in a row homes sales are down, also housing prices are down. The news keeps getting worse and worse as banks now tighten their credit so that even borrowers with good scores cannot get loans. This means we have a glut of unsold houses that sit empty.

The future looks grim for microWHO.

Price hike by British Gas forces many home owners into poverty

Record high prices for oil have driven up the price of all energy sources including wood, coal and natural gas. As the cost of energy increases more and more home owners are driven into poverty due to their inability to heat their houses in winter.

It is estimated that the latest 15 cent increase from British gas has placed 192,000 home owners in fuel poverty.
This company had a 6X increase in profits over last year and yet it has been given the right to raise rates. The 571 million pound profit is obscene in the extreme.

The energy companies are making money off the back of struggling consumers who have no choice but to pay the inflated rates or slowly freeze to death in their dark homes.

More than that, the controversial changes to the pricing structure were not necessary as the company was already quite profitable. The price increase far exceeds the rate of inflation, and it worsens economic conditions for the most vulnerable of the population such as senior citizens living on fixed incomes.

One solution is a Secured Loan from Magic Loans. This can provide cash for emergencies that can arise.

In the past the government has subsidized food and fuel for the struggling poor, but now the emphasis seems to be on cutting taxes and not on helping those in need. As the price of food and fuel continues to increase, more and more families will suffer in dark homes without heat. These views are entirely my own, but this post was sponsored by Pay Per Post.

World longest bridge built by Bin Ladens half brother

A bridge from the 26.5 kilometer bridge from the African mainland to the Arabian peninsula is being built. It will help bring together two continents and the irony is that the builder of the Red Sea Bridge is none other than Tarek Bin Laden, the half brother of the infamous Osama Bin Laden.

Today in 1997 Dolly the sheep was cloned

It was eleven years ago that the first mammal was cloned in a laboratory from the cells of an adult sheep. This was news then and I wonder if a clone has a soul. The reason for this is that it does not come from a naural mating.

Perhaps this explains why people in the future are so cold an soulless like more MANchine than man. Why there is no future art.

The world of the future seem cold and sterile like a robotics laboratory where artificial people are created to function is a soulless earth. Dolly the sheep was the first step toward cloning people.

Texas Showdown

It was Clinton vs Obama, a lot of stale rhetoric, except for that catchy phrase "Change you can xerox!" Obama appeared distracted like he had more important things on his mind...

Perhaps we can use the hot air of politicians as an energy source for future wind power.

Clinton and Obama debate in Texas

Today is a historic debate in Texas between Clinton and Obama in Texas. The big debate is a important moment. Obama is ahead in the delegate count. Well folks, today is the Texas showdown election debate!

Castro Resigns

The tiny island of Cuba only 90 miles from US shores has lived for 50 years under a communist dictator known as Fidel Castro. Today he formerely resigned his post as military commander and leader.

It has been a difficult struggle for the people of Cuba who struggled underhis tyranny and had to do without fuel and food for all these years. Much like North Korea is an example of communism, Cuba showed us what happens when a few rule the many.

All I can say is that hopefully the last few remaining dictators will fall and freedom will prevail. As for the Fidel, goodbye and good riddance.

Ebay sellers boycott

There is a protest brewing. Sellers are angry with the new rules that Eday has imposed. An Ebay sellers boycott is on. For a long time Ebay has raised fees and made all kinds of rules, but now there is a backlash. The sellers are in revolt. Many threaten to start using other auctions if Ebay does not go back to earlier fee structure.

Things look ugly for Ebay with the recession and angry sellers that are quitting the auction giant. This recession is not a good time to try to squeeze the troubled sellers for even more money.

Banks are in trouble and now students can't get loans for school. The college loan crisis continues to get worse and make is hard to pay for education. For several years the cost of college has been going up and wages going down in real dollars, but now the students can't even go.

Global warming affects ski resorts

The warm winters without snow and high temperatures that prevent machines from creating artificial snow will impact the bottomline of ski resorts. Global warming will affect winter sports. The cold season will be shorter and with less precipitation and more evaporation.

Ski Resorts See Profits Heading Downhill...

Our planet is getting warmer each year as more CO@ is pumped into the atmosphere. The ability to sustain a snowpack at high altitutes becomes less as the air heats up. Future ski slopes will be barren and dry as our earth heats up.

Gov tries to avert depression

Rather than no recession, we may face a deep depression like the 1930's. Perhaps a time of trouble like none before. The economy is imploding. This is the worst ever. The black clouds are at the edge of the horizon, and we cannot ignore the gathering storm.

Are we the Modern Romans?

Think obout how that great superpower fell. They had a great power, but in the end it was barbarians that burned it to the ground. We are following the same path. Our future execs want to downsize and outsource our jobs. Rome faced a move to import silk and spice from China. The gold of rome was soon drained.

Without jobs the roman government gave free food to its citizens - think welfare. They also built cheap apartments - think public housing projects. The romans raised taxes to pay for all this which did cause more industry to move offshore. Future execs would do well to study history.

People in rome did not realize what was happening until it was too late.
The empire fell.

GM to fire 70% of US workforce

Today General Motors announced is will layoff 70% of USA automotive workers. The troubled american automaker last year posted a record loss of 39 billion. The other american car makers Ford and Chrysler are not doing any better. In fact, the entire american automotive industry has been laying people off. In the construction industry things have never been worse.

GM is in a struggle to survive. It will soon lose its number one automaker position to Toyota. GM execs were laughing back in the 90's when Toyota focued on hybrids, now the ar crying. GM has to slash its workforce to buy time, but this patient is terminal. As the economy implodes expect other big companies to announce similar measures. We are seeing the beginning of the end for the US as a world power.

Executives in the future?

Many wonder if in the future we see execs ruling the world. Well, the days of big biz, big guv, and big church are limited. After the time of troubles which we are in, comes a golden age without war.

Right now execs are in their tall tower talking about downsizing, outsourcing, and making more cuts. They want to shut down american factories and move them to China. They want to outsource white collar work to India. Many wonder about future execs.

There are no executives in the future. The concept of competition is replaced with cooperation. Gone are the 200 million dollar salaries and the limo lifestyle.

World goes dark

A six ton ship anchor cut internet cables and disrupted traffic on the information highway. Many websites were slow, some were down due to this incident that shows up how fragile our world is.

Our internet was acting funny and the anchor cut caused traffic to be re-routed all over the world.
The satellites had to be used and it will br week before things return to normal.

recession is now

OK, so recession worries wall street due to slow sales. Wal-mart is saying low income consumers have been hit hard by the so so economy. Not only are people not spending, but many firms are cutting workers. Companies like Lowes, Home Depot are cutting back. They anticipate slowing sales in the next quarter. I predict a real soft summer.

Stock bounced after yesterdays hard fall of 370 points. We are in a recession that is getting worse. In other news Clinton beats Barack with 584 delegates to 569 delegates. She is now almost one hundred delegates ahead. Instead of catching up, Barack is falling futher behind.

Google fires back!

The merger of M$ & Yahoo to create micrho is not certain. Google could ride to the rescue as a White Knight and keep Yahoo away from the clutches of the billster. We have seen how M$ crushes the competition. Being the Operating System seller gives M$ a lot of power, however, there are some clouds on the horizon.

Inflight Internet

Finally, you can go on the net while on a jet. The barriers to inflight internet are coming down. We have the technology and we have the desire to surf while we fly in the sky.

What's ahead for 2008

Further declines in the housing market. The metals continue to perfom well. Dow and Dollar drop while Green Tech moves forward. New ethanol technology is taing off and could help ease fuel shortages in the future.

Michigan is the future

Henry Ford was a great man he helped put America on wheels. In india Ratan Tata of Tata Motors is a modern Henry Ford building a small #2500 car so that India has a chance to become great.

What happened in America? Well, executives with their 200 million dollar salaries are shutting down americas factories and moving them to Red China. The enemy that has missle pointed at us.

All executives talk about is firing people, making cuts, downsizing, offshouring, and outsourcing. These vultures can care less about America. They only go play golf while the workers sweat in the sweatshops.

Last year General Motors lost 39 billion dollars. Its biggest loss in history, but instead of making a small fuel efficient car they make a hummer pickup truck. Michigan is the future of america.
